Werner Von Siemens founded his company in 1847 with his design for the pointer telegraph, starting with 10 men in a courtyard in Berlin. Winning the contract to build Europe’s first long-distance telegraph line, the company grew from the 670-kilometer link into high-voltage engineering and major international projects in the late 1800’s, telephone networks and lamp manufacturing in the early 1900’s, to the world’s first transistorized control system in the 1950’s. As technology rapidly evolved, the SIMATIC product matured the S7 generation of controllers, enabling seamless communication between facility and office.
